I am open to requests for song translations! I can do a lot more than just translate songs, I can make fancy subtitles too. Here are some conditions/helpful tips:

 

- If a song is quite popular or from a popular artist, there is a good chance that somebody will already be translating it/has already translated it.

 

- I use a combination of my Japanese knowledge (roughly N4), Shirabe Jisho, and DeepL (as a second reference for obscure grammar and proverbs) to make my translations. I sometimes also get the advice of my Japanese friend or teacher if I am unsure, however this takes more time.

 

- If for whatever reason I cannot finish a translation (extreme difficulty, major life event, song gets taken down), I will not post it, however I can send you what I do manage over email.

 

- I can check other translations if you want a second opinion.

 

- In terms of subtitling, I can make fancy subtitles (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_RmuScgWOQ). I usually choose which videos I do because they take ~2 weeks to make, but I will look at your suggestions. Because of the policy change on YouTube, I have to give the subtitles to the original artist over email for them to be uploaded. I have to get in touch with them BEFORE I start working, to make sure I don't waste my time. This means fancy subtitles and subtitles in general are rare and difficult to make. Thank you for understanding.

 

- Lots of things like context, polite and rude language, puns and deeper meanings can't be carried over perfectly in a translation. I'm happy to provide this in-depth information if you ask.

 

- I will censor strong swear words/extremely inappropriate words in my translations. This is to protect people who might be sensitive to these topics, and to make my website a safe place for everybody. if you'd like to know the actual meaning, feel free to contact me, I'm happy to tell you. I will do this for extreme topics like lots of gore or direct descriptions of suicide, murder, and similar. If it gets too much I may even stop translating it. Thank you for understanding!
